Current Aesthetics I'm Adding to My Wardrobe
A few aesthetics I'm obsessed with are:
❐ Dark Academia
❐ Grunge
❐ E - Girl
❐ Cottage Core
❐ Kid Core
First things first, whoever came up with the phrase, Kid Core should be questioned. I'm taking full ownership to rename this style to "Teen Bop" since it very much references the'90s for me which will forever have my soul.
For me, the late 90's - the early 2000s were such an instrumental period in my personal development. Not to throw shade here but I feel bad for Gen Z as they didn't get to experience a deep love for pop culture which meant the emerging boy bands/girl bands, game boys, clip art, Napster, LimeWire, scholastic book fairs, wearing your best pair of low-rise jeans to class, Furbys!!!, CD Walkmans, handheld recorders, Camcorders!! (which I used to re-enact my own versions of Jackass videos) going to BlockBuster, AOL!!!!, dial-up internet (haha these are really hitting home for me but bringing back some fun mems joining chat rooms with your besties) 👯♀️
These styles are truly at the core of my being. I LOVE being able to relive my childhood through fashion.
&& I love that Gen Z girlies are adopting these styles too.

E-Girl:
This one hits home for me. Takes me back to my "emo" phase days during middle school listening to Dashboard Confessional, Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, Desaparecidos (you get the picture) I'm here for an emo moment — the thumb hole gloves, striped tees, skater jeans with trigger hooks, chain belts, silver jewelry, carpenter jeans. I'm into it. Brands that get it: Ragged Priest, DollsKill
Teen Bop:
A go-to aesthetic for me, easy to piece together, and versatile. For this one, I would style it in a color/matchy way or just go basic/neutral with pops of fun colorful jewelry/beads. Colorful crops, Oversized Zip Up Hoodies, High Waisted Baggy Jeans (BDG are my fave from UO) You can really play around with this aesthetic. Go-to brands are: Urban Outfitters + Pull&Bear
Cottage Core:
When I imagine this aesthetic, I think of a girl with rapunzel-like hair wearing this “little house on the prairie but cute” dress baking a pie in her kitchen while swans are swimming outside of her quaint home. A literal fairytale. A few brands that carry these styles are Morning Lavender, Christy Dawn, and Free People.

Dark Academia:
This style is the edgy, prep school type — think collard shirts, sweater vests, oversized blazers, baggy jeans, plaid pleated skirts, platform loafers, etc. One of my favorite bloggers slaysssssss this looks among so many other styles. Go check out her insta ASAP @badkidhq
